Skutch
T-51A The Skutch T-51A is a three line, telephone line switch. This unit allows up to three standard telephone company lines (more lines when used in series with other T-51A's) to use a single Telecommunication Device. The T-51A has three RJ-13 telephone cables that you can connect to either, three single line, RJ-11 telephone lines, or to three RJ-13 telephone lines (as used on 1A2 or COMKEY Telephone Systems--in this case, the T-51A will provide lamp control to indicate when it is on line).
When a call rings into any of the three lines, the T-51A routes that line to the Telecommunication Device. As soon as the Telecommunication Device answers the call, the T-51A will place a BUSY across the other two lines (BUSY OUT can be disabled if desired). When all lines are idle, the first of any of the three lines will be routed through.
Any customers that call in, while the Telecommunication Device is in use, will get a BUSY signal; this helps assure your customers that their call is important because they don't just get a ring-no-answer. When the Telecommunication Device is finished, the T-51A will remove the BUSY condition from the other lines and then wait for the next call.
Whenever you need to place an outgoing call, the T-51A will automatically connect you to LINE 1. With the T-51A's ability to route you to a default outgoing line, you will always be able to access a telephone line, even during a power outage. Typical applications include: connection to an after-hours order processing device, Voice Message system or a fax machine. |
Scenarios
#1. This is a great unit where you have more than one published line number. During times when only one person can answer phones, other published numbers will ring busy. The caller can simply call back in a few moments when calls are idle. Multiple T-51A units can handle lines greater than three.
#2. You have more than one number published and one night/weekend answering device. The first of any of your lines (up to 3 with one T-51A) will be routed through to the answering device, while ringing other lines busy during the call. Callers getting a busy can simply call back in a few minutes.
#2
You have more than one number published, but during a time (nights/weekends for example) you must accept emergency calls and not loose other calls to a ring-no-answer situation, the T-51A routes the first ringing line to a Skutch BA-1000-A Answering Device / Urgent Notification System that will find you remotely. Other emergency calls will get a busy, so the caller will call back moments later.
Some of our customers have used the Skutch T-51A (this unit) along with the Skutch T-70 busy out device, and the Skutch BA-1000-A Answering Device / Urgent Notification System. Click the links to find out more.
Note: To use the T-51A on more than three lines, multiple T-51A
units can be connected in tandem. With this wiring, additional units will only add two more lines. Example: Unit one - 3 lines, Unit 2 - 2 lines, Unit 3 - 2 lines, Unit 4 - 2 lines. Thus 4 units can cover 9 lines. |
